On May 24, 2024, a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Ashgabat.
One of the results of the meeting was the adoption of the Concept of cooperation in the energy sector for the period until 2035. It is stated that hydrogen energy technologies are the most promising by now. Hydrogen is currently used mainly in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In the nearest future it becomes a new energy carrier, replacing hydrocarbon energy carriers, and will form a new “hydrogen economy”.
The new CIS Energy Concept devotes a separate section to hydrogen energy. The Commonwealth countries agreed to coordinate efforts to improve the regulatory framework, as well as develop measures to stimulate the creation of infrastructure for the transportation and consumption of hydrogen.
Well noted, “H2 Invest” has initiated the Hydrogen Energy Committee on the platform of CIS Business Association. The first meeting of the Committee takes place on June 14. We involve the leading hydrogen companies of the CIS, and invite representatives of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the CIS Electric Power Council, Moscow State University, the Higher School of Economics to participate.
